PIK Pavillion
The building provides an event and exhibition space as well as being part of a bridge connecting two riverbanks at the PIK2 development in the North of Jakarta. The pavilion is structured into 3 parts: On the ground floor there is the bridge, public seating area, café and a Kentongan slit drum installation. The floating volume above contains the event and exhibition space and on the rooftop, there is a 360-degree viewing deck. The layout is structured around a nine square grid encircled by a secondary skin made from woven, semi-transparent petals, tilted to allow various degrees of shading and view. This generates voids between building volume and skin to allow trees to grow. The building will be manufactured from local FSC certified timber materials.
